Nomou Vegan Ice Creams Coming to Four New Metros

Mumbai-based dairy free ice cream brand Nomou is all set to expand its reach and will soon be available in four new cities, including Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Started by Vegan Bites founder Samir Pasad, Nomou offers artisanal plant based vegan ice creams that are free from any preservatives, artificial colours, stabilisers, or flavours.

Nomou is on a full fledged expansion mode currently and is seeing a constant rise in demand for its vegan ice creams. Talking to The Vegan Indians, Samir said, “From Mumbai, we have expanded our reach to Pune, Surat, Chennai, Kolkata, Siliguri and Goa. We are soon going to launch ice creams in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Gurgaon.”

Samir was initially selling his vegan ice creams only to HORECA (hotels, restaurants and cafes) segment under the brand name Vegan Bites, but in December 2019 he launched Nomou to cater to the retail segment too. The brand name Nomou stands from ‘No-Moo’, that means ‘no to cow’s milk.’

Nomou vegan ice creams are made using coconut milk and palm sugar and no artificial colours or flavours are added to the ice creams. Samir told us that Nomou ice creams are made in a gelato machine and not commercial ice cream machines that pump in air into the ice cream to make it look fluffy. “This makes our ice creams weigh almost the same in both millilitre and grams. Due to the higher density, the flavours come out much better as compared to commercial ice creams. Another important point is that some brands are making dairyfree ice creams in the same plant and machines in which dairy ice creams are being manufactured. Ours is a 100% plant based company and we don’t make any dairy ice creams, thus eliminating any chance of contamination by traces of milk. This makes our ice creams 100% vegan.”

Nomou offers a range of flavours such as paan, choco almond, espresso, bourbon vanilla, sea salt caramel, black sesame, fig & walnut, mint chocolate chip, amongst others. The ice creams are available in supermarkets such as Nature’s Basket, ice cream parlours, and online via Vvegano, Swiggy and Zomato.
