Kolkata-Based Vegan World Eyes Three New States for Expansion

Vegan World, India’s leading exclusive vegan distribution company, is planning to expand its services outside West Bengal, and is targeting the three states of Bihar, Assam and Sikkim for its first phase of expansion.

The company led by Kolkata-based entrepreneur Madhuja Dey has witnessed steady growth since its launch in March this year. In West Bengal, Vegan World is supplying to Siliguri and Mayapur as well. The company is now planning to move to other cities outside West Bengal, starting with Patna and Jamshedpur in Bihar, Guwahati in Assam and Gangtok in Sikkim.

Madhuja told The Vegan Indians, “Our next focus is Patna, Jamshedpur and Gangtok. We are also looking at Assam, particularly Guwahati, as we have been constantly approached by a lot of people in the state. The only problem is that we haven’t found a potential store in Guwahati. But there are people who are already working on it and they have constantly been in touch with us. Once something works out, we will be ready to roll out the good news too.”

Within West Bengal too, Vegan World is going to spread its reach to Kharagpur, Chandangar, Durgapur and other tier 2 towns.

“Due to the lockdown, we had faced a lot of logistical issues and that hampered our plans. Since our business is dependent on stocking and transporting, we could start expanding only when we have proper logistics, as we want the products to reach absolutely fresh to our customers. Now, since things are somewhat back to normal, our expansion plan has also picked up pace.”

Vegan World is currently catering to 25 stores, including Spencer’s, Big Basket, BPCL Retail Stores (In & Out), HPCL Retail Stores (Speedmart), and Organic Stores, amongst others.
