Businessman and actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra revealed on social media yesterday that he is celebrating one year of being vegan.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Kundra announced the news on Instagram in his distinctive style of swapping faces of actors in movies and songs with his own.
In yesterday’s post, he swapped Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s face in the song ButtaBomma. The video showed him dancing like Arjun next to Pooja Hegde in the song from the 2020 movie Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
The caption of the video mentioned the reason for celebration – one year of being vegan!
Kundra wrote, “It feels good to be celebrating one year of being Vegan! Exactly a year ago I started my spiritual path on International Yoga Day of becoming Vegan and waking up at 5 am daily for meditation. This past year has brought calmness and clarity into my life. It feels good to be able to say my food is grown not born. Happy International Yoga Day. What positive changes are you making today for a better YOU?”

In a 2020 Instagram post, Shilpa also revealed that she has completely embraced vegetarianism. She wrote, “It has been a slow and gradual process. I first gave up meat and then chicken and then fish. I luckily have a spouse (Raj Kundra) who wanted to do it for health reasons but he has gone a step ahead become a vegan. When you see scientific evidence that supports the idea of a plant-based diet, you realise you’d rather adopt it, and not make your body a graveyard for animals. These are good enough reasons to do it. I’ve seen a big change in my body.”
Last year, the couple had partnered with NGO Million Dollar Vegan to distribute ration kits to 1,000 families who lost their homes due to Cyclone Nisarga in Raigarh.
