Preparation time: 4 hours
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
½ cup moong dal (split and husked yellow lentils)
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 green chillies
½ tsp ginger, finely chopped
Water for paste like consistency
Red chilli powder
Salt to taste
Steps:
Soak moong dal for 4 hours
After it’s fully soaked, drain out the water
In a mixer grinder add dal, spices, cumin seeds, green chillies and salt
Grind it to a smooth batter by simultaneously adding water for a perfect texture
Make sure the batter has medium consistency
Now, heat a dosa tawa or normal tawa and brush some oil once hot
Pour a ladleful of the batter on tawa and flatten it out in a circular pattern using the back of the ladle
Let it cook on slow-to-medium heat and drizzle some oil on the edges
Once the edges get cooked, flip the chilla to other side
Cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes
Cook it evenly from both sides
Serve with green chutney or sauce
