Miss Universe Andrea Meza – One More Name Added to Growing List of Vegan Celebrities

Andrea Miza from Mexico’s Chihuahua has been crowned the winner of Miss Universe 2020 title. The 26-year-old model and software engineer beat out 74 competitors, including runner-up Miss Brazil Julia Gama, and second runner-up Miss Peru Janick Maceta Del Castillo. Adline Castelino from India was amongst the top five but couldn’t make it to the final list.

Andrea follows a plant-based diet and is a vegan. She has often voiced her deep concern for animals and the planet, and uses her social media platforms to reveal details about her vegan lifestyle. She is also involved in activism, and works with the Municipal Institute for Women in Mexico, which aims to end gender violence. Andrea has worked with a global charity to raise funds for the underprivileged in India, Indonesia, and China.

The 2020 Miss Universe practices CrossFit and extreme sports, such as rappelling and sandboarding. She is also going to launch an activewear brand ‘Andrea Meza Activewear’ soon.

Sharing her views on the podium, Andrea said: “We live in a society that is more advanced, and as we have advanced as a society, we have advanced with stereotypes. Nowadays, beauty is not only the way we look. For me, beauty radiates not only in our spirits, but in our hearts and the way we conduct ourselves. Never permit someone to tell you that you are not valuable.”
