Oatly Announces Base Capacity Expansion at US Facility to Accommodate Rising Demand

World’s largest oat milk company, Oatly has announced an expansion in its base capacity at Utah in the US to meet a growing consumer demand.

Towards the second half of this year, Oatly will begin the construction to accommodate an additional 75 million liters. The company’s total estimated capacity will grow from 1,000 million to 1,075 million liters by the end of 2022, and from 1,400 million to 1,475 million liters by the end of 2023.

By the end of 2022, Oatly projects its EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) facility, along with its two manufacturing units in the Americas and two in Asia, to raise the output by 200% of what it was in 2020. This was revealed by the company in a statement.

“We continue to generate strong growth in the U.S. and globally with our proven multi-channel expansion strategy in more than 20 markets, across multiple sales channels and segment. We believe the fundamentals of our business are stronger than ever as consumer demand continues to accelerate, and we are increasing production capacity globally to meet that growing demand,” said Oatly CEO Toni Petersson.

Headquartered in Sweden, Oatly is available in more than 20 countries. Their portfolio includes alternatives to milk, yogurt, ice-cream, cooking cream and various spreads.
